Biography:

Mary K. Hughes MS, RN, CNS, CT, is a faculty member at Texas Woman’s University and The University of Texas Houston. She has been a clinical nurse specialist in the psychiatry department at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center since 1990.Ms. Hughes is the recipient of many awards including Sword of Hope award from the American Cancer Society, the Brown Foundation, Inc. Award for Outstanding Nurse Oncologist and the 2009 Mara Mogensen Flaherty Memorial Lectureship from the Oncology Nursing Society. She lectures internationally and nationally about quality-of-life issues of those diagnosed with cancer; she has also published on these subjects. Ms. Hughes has been a speaker for LBBC and has served as a reviewer of our publications.
