Biography:

Dr. JEROLEN NAIDOO is an ambitious and self-motivated lateral thinker dedicated to applying cutting-edge scientific solutions to generate translational research outputs. Currently, one of his main focuses is harnessing high-content screening and next-generation technologies to support Precision Medicine initiatives in South Africa. Dr. Naidoo serves as a senior researcher in bioengineering and integrative genomics at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). He earned his PhD in Cell Biology from the Institute for Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine at the University of Cape Town, where his research centered on high-content screening and its application to understanding HIV-host interactions. Following this, he undertook a postdoctoral fellowship within the CSIR-UCT Biomedical Translational Research Initiative, applying high-content screening and 3D organoid technologies to functional precision medicine in oncology. His current research at the CSIR focuses on precision medicine-based applications, including the development of 3D 'disease in a dish' models and investigating the role of the gut microbiome in disease risk and environmental health in South Africa.
